Artists and athletes are both encouraged to embrace their passions, but also to try new activities that they haven't been exposed to.
Learn New Talents
Athletes and artists will have many opportunities to improve on their talents, but also to learn new ones from the staff.
Bond by Doing
Boys bond by doing, at IHC the boy bunks become a tight unit that works as a team.
IHC wants to have kind, caring, and emotionally connected boys who are also developing socially at camp.
Equal and Strong
Raising confident girls who get to participate in all the activities that the boys do, and they do it safely with their camp sisters to build self esteem.
The complex nature of the female social journey, a good friend, a good community member, a good listener, kind. Girls tend to bond through social moments.
Comfort In Your Own Skin
No make-up at camp, and only one-piece bathing suits for function—not fashion.
Raising self assured children who have self-worth and are motivated to take on this amazing world!
A Typical Day
During the day, our program department keeps our campers moving from the fields, to the playhouse, to the waterfront. And the fun doesn’t stop there - it continues long into the night during evening activities.
Good Morning Camp IHC!
Campers are woken up with an upbeat song to get them out of bed and ready for their day with a lot of energy and excitement!
The campers sit together as a bunk and enjoy a variety of breakfast options that are tailored to every taste. Cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, granola, pancakes, waffles, eggs—and make sure to check out the hot chocolate stand!
Flagpole, All Hats Off!
Every morning the campers wake up to salute the flag and hear announcements for that day. Lots of singing for birthdays and lost teeth are celebrated too!
Down By The Water
As long as the sun is shining, the campers get wet! Whether it's learning new swimming techniques in the pool, or jumping on trampolines in the lake, or even waterskiing, sailing, kayaking, or stand-up paddling—there's something for everyone at our waterfront.
Campers are exposed to the widest variety of sports at camp. We've got every field, net, ball, and rink you can think of! Gymnastics, a dance studio, and a fully-equipped gym? Yup, we've got that! Anyone up for a game of gaga?
The only meal of the day that's buffet style. Campers line-up, make their plates, and head to the grassy lawn to enjoy some food and drink with their friends in the sun. Everything from sandwiches, grilled cheese, and chicken tenders—and a fully loaded salad bar is available every lunch!
Rest Hour and Mail Time!
1:00 PMAfter a long morning of running around and swimming, the campers get a brief break to hang around the cabin and the bunk line with their friends. Whether it's reading or writing mail, playing a game of cards or jax, basketball, drawing, or just talking with a friend—the campers get to enjoy a relaxed period doing whatever they love best.
Time For Adventure
The outdoor adventure program (OPT) at IHC is second to none. With a fully extensive ropes course that offers more than 30 elements to go through, more than 1,200 feet of zipline, and seven miles of hiking and mountain biking trails all on property—the campers have plenty of climbing, hiking, and biking to do! And wait until they take their first trip off camp!
All these activities work up an appetite. Every day the campers have an opportunity for a healthy snack break (or a cookie if they want), along with any type of milk (or water) that your camper prefers.
More Paint Please?
Whether it's getting messy with paint, or classical with instruction, the campers do something artistic every day. With instruction and free periods in arts and crafts, fine arts, ceramics, and wood working—the campers go back to the bunk with a new personal creation almost every day! Additionally, the campers are exposed to cooking classes, dance instruction, and a stage for them to sing on and play instruments as well.
5:00 PMTime to restore all of your power—it's, shower hour!
Dinner time is served to the campers as they sit together as a bunk. Once again, a fully stocked salad bar is available to go with homemade stromboli, pasta, chicken, beef and potatoes, and a camper favorite—taco night! Friday nights include a three course meal, followed by a weekly camp-wide campfire celebration with songs and dance!
Campers get to choose how they want to spend this time by choosing their favorite activity. They can change it everyday to keep things interesting, and counselors are assigned to open activity areas to provide supervision and instruction.
Every evening, something different is offered to the campers to do at night. Whether it's a game of color war with some greenie meanies, a game of dress up your bunk or councilor, or a camp-wide event that challenges the campers in zany games and activities—there's always something fun to do after dinner!
When the sun goes down, so do our campers (but not before a great bedtime story). In most bunks you'll see a flashlight and a good book before the final call for lights out!
I've built amazing friendships, and I'm able to experience different things I can't do at home.
I get to hang out with my best friends 24-7, and I have the best summers!
I love going to camp because I've made friendships that I know will last forever. You learn to live with girls for 7 weeks, 24 hours a day!
My favorite activities are basketball, tubing on the lake, Olympics, and being with my camp friends!
I love coming back to camp each year to see my awesome friends and super awesome counselors!
I go to camp to be with my best friends. My favorite parts of camp are definitely media and project adventure. It's so challenging! And if I was telling a new friend to come to camp I would say, 'Just come! It's amazing!
I love camp because I'm so comfortable there that it's like my home away from home.
I love going to camp because when i'm there I have a smile on my face all the time. We get to play fun games and have fun activities. I love my camp friends and can't wait to spend time with them.
